Nike VR Pro Driver Impressions

Hey guys. Today I got to hit the Nike VR Pro STR8-FIT Tour and I have to say this is a pretty good stick. I tested it at 9.5 degrees with a Project X 6.0 shaft and it was in the neutral position. To start, this is probably one of the most forgiving drivers that I have ever hit. You can hit it anywhere on the face and the ball still gets out there. The club is especially forgiving on shots hit low on the face, which is likely due to Nike's 'Compression Channel' technology. Boy, it does what it says. Shots hit low feel like center strikes. Distance wise, the driver was pretty good. Shots hit in the center of the face have a ridiculous amount ball speed, probably 15 yards longer than my current driver, the Nike Machspeed Black Round (and no, this review is not biased). Working the ball was not an issue. Shots not hit on the sweetspot fly far, with a great deal of accuracy. In terms of feel (this is the only thing it took awhile to get used to. Impact was a bit soft, and it was hard to find where you hit the ball on the face unless it was a big miss. This driver is a nice, classic pear shape that better players would love. In the end, I give this driver an 8.5 out of 10 due to that odd, cushioned feel. The Nike VR Pro driver won't dissatisfy you, it is a better players driver with a tremendous amount of forgiveness. It is currently on sale at GolfGalaxy and GolfSmith for 229.99.

The Start

Hey guys,
I'm going to be blogging about one of the most important things in my life, the game of golf. As golfers we all know how obsessed people can get about a game like this one. I would do anything to help get me better, and I know there are a lot of people out there like me. I'm going to put every little thing that pops into my head about this game on this blog, whether it be equipment, PGA Tour scores, tips, player swings, or just something to make you think. Hopefully this will be the first post of many, and I'll see you later.
